Trek Maintenance Blues: Tuesday, July 29th!

To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup, Whenever you're wrong, admit it; Whenever you're right, shut up. -Ogden Nash, poet (1902-1971)

It came to me that reform should begin at home, and since that day I have not had time to remake the world. -Will Durant, historian (1885-1981)

"I sat at a table where were rich food and wine in abundance, and obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry from the inhospitable board." -Henry David Thoreau

The death of Roland at the Battle of Roncevaux
From an illustrated manuscript (1455-1460)
Hi Goils! Just a reminder to Tinsel Towners to each bring a bottle of Duty Free booze when you cross border. I assume Drama Queen, (Did you audition for Game of Thrones?), will want Tequila but others might bring rum  for Coat-Hanger and his entourage!

Nana is reading her latest book, Scott Turo's Identical, so I'm having to wait for Dusty's pancakes and bacon. Tough, tough life here at the lake! Another lovely day so Dusty will be working outside, refinishing an incredible mahogany table given to them, yesterday, by friends from Ingolf. (He actually passed me on my ride there!) Table was quite high so he took it apart and cut down the two support legs to bring it to comfortable height. All this in addition to making a lovely wooden box for Annie's ashes. Don't forget to bring them, Chloë, along with paper that describes the contents. As well, please bring me a package of Mexicans, Tesalon or Benzanote on a light blue and white box. You will find them in the top drawer, to the right of the sink. I have a slight cough and your Mother is riding me, copying Rosita's nagging of Dusty!

Must away as I want to wash and lube my bike. Plan to head into Kenora to Farmer's Market tomorrow.  Spumoni is coming up from War Eagle to make dinner for Tinsel Towners tomorrow. Really only an excuse to do 7 bags of laundry! Fondestos, Love and Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio!

Pics: More scenes from Trench Warfare, a Hallmark touchy-feely, about a back-to-the-land couple and their dysfunctional family! Attack of the Killer Wood Ticks. This one was on Duston's underarm and Rosita spotted it. Nana just loved burning it off with matches. She was quite disappointed when it finally fell off!

First try rejected!     Don't worry...we're bringing booze! Did not need to see the bloody tick

Hi Squeamish One! Spumoni makes a fantastic Bloody Mary with a tick on the celery stick for a swizzler! Cheers, Give Blood, one way or another, in Manitoba!

Yeah yeah...go lube your bike xo See you tomorrow!

Thanks for all the hostility! I spit on nastiness as I'm just about to tuck into Nana's fabulous spinach omelette with Canadian bacon! Whatever...You are the drama king! Takes royalty to know royalty, Baby Cakes!

Hi Glasgow! Very pleased to report that the car is purring like a kitten so am delighted, as you can well imagine! Have been having a grand time ever since we arrived at Falcon this past Friday afternoon.

Lazy day today. Probably just a 50 km ride after I wash and lube my bike.
Together with Cora Lee's parents, plan to head into Kenora to Farmer's Market tomorrow.  Spumoni is coming up from War Eagle to make dinner for Tinsel Towners who are to arrive late in the afternoon, after flying to Fargo and then driving from there in a rental car. I'm off to Winnipeg on Thursday morning. Chloë arrives in early afternoon. I have a number of things to attend to for Mom's memorial service on Friday. 69th wedding anniversary celebrations begin in earnest on Saturday. Coriandre is busy "curating" about 50 of Dusty's paintings, ready to display them at the West Hawk United Church on Saturday/Sunday. He is donating proceeds from any sales to church. Of course, not all the paintings are for sale, treasures for many friends and family.

Trust all goes well with real estate listing, etc. Are you golfing everyday now? Fondestos from Cora Lee, Clarisse and Dusty to you both. (We had ham for dinner on Friday night and half-expected you to walk in the door!!!)   Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Trench Warfare! Mosquitoe free dinner outside, in screened gazebo!

Hi Grigor, Claire and Sarge! Delighted that you have finalized plans for Vancouver! Sorry I've not responded sooner but as Sarge mentioned, we are in Manitoba at moment and have been having Internet connectivity problems, of late. Trust all goes well with contract arrangements fro Claire de la Lune's consulting work. As Sarge, mentioned, we have plenty of bikes so you can rent them from us! Fondestos from Cora Lee, Clarisse and Dusty to everyone. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Ayn P: Patrick James Dunn please have this made for my Mexican dinner menu on Thursday xoxo

Salsa? Here's a DIY Salsa!

Ingredients:
5-6 Roma tomatoes, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup fresh Cilantro, chopped
2 seeded Serrano or Jalapeño peppers, minced
1 clove of garlic, chopped
2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
salt and pepper to taste

-Mix everything together and let sit overnight for flavours to meld.

Hi Lads! Trust all goes well in the garden and on Galiano! Thanks for wonderful clip on Team Sky kit. Rapha could really learn from my "classic" outfit, I'm sure!!!

Cora Lee is weeding Dusty's large flower garden, as I scribe. She has a mosquitoe clip-on gadget, attached to the pocket of her shorts, supposedly keeping her in a mini-skeeter free zone as she prunes and weeds and hoes!
Dusty is working outside, as well, refinishing an incredible, large mahogany dining table given to them, yesterday, by friends from Ingolf. (On his way there to collect it, he actually passed me on my ride there! Cora lee wanted him to run me off the road! In this same vein, gather there was a terrible accident of Seawall a week or so ago. Bruno and Carol mentioned it. No wonder cyclists have a bad rep. Guess I'll have to be better at observing lights, etc.)

Table was quite high so he took it apart and cut down the two support legs to bring it to comfortable height. All this in addition to making a lovely wooden box for Annie's ashes, which we forgot to bring! Fortunately, Chloë will mule the remains of her grandmother, although unneccessarily squeamish about so doing! Fondestos from Cora Lee, Clarisse and Dusty to everyone. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Kids! This from Robo Man! Cheers, Patrizzio "Esquire/GQ" Model!

Pat, Maybe we can get you involved with Rapha with a bike clothing make-over. The detail! Ray

Pat,  Glad you're able to give a helping hand with the construction work as well as keeping the mileage and average speed very respectable. No riding at all myself other than a solo trip into the Endowment Lands on Sunday. So cool and quiet in there. Entered at 33rd travelling northwards and finishing up at Spanish Banks in the late afternoon.

Sylvia and Margaret went to Uculet for 4 days kayaking etc. Sylvia met up with an old school friend some weeks ago while he was having maintenance done on his plane in Vancouver. Her dad had taught the man to fly when he was young and he's made a career from it. She arranged to go over and stay with him and his wife. Sounds like they had a wonderful time with the kayaking, whale watching, and walking the beach, as well as attendance at a festival that happened to be on Saturday night. Sylvia said how friendly the locals were and all the local businesses are owned by locals by design. Great photos from the cruise although there were no whale sightings but everything else by the sound of it and a great lunch all for a very reasonable price.

Great to hear that Corinne has tried her hand at golf and had so much fun with it. Reading my 3rd Owen Laukkenan book over the last week and quite enjoying them. Continued great weather. I've been getting to the gym early and spending the middle day hours inside reading before venturing out again in the late afternoon. Lots of correspondence with Jim Crowe re the middle eastern situation. Not well read on the conflict although I've always been pro- Israeli, unlike Jim. Must get better informed. George must be enjoying Island life with the warm summer. We're off to Savary Island in about 2 weeks. Ray
