Lord Byron Bad Boy Blues: Thursday, January 22nd!

Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. -Lord Byron, poet (22 Jan 1788-1824)

Hi Little White and Ricardo! Trust all goes well with you two. Just had an email from Penny, our friend in London. You might remember we went on a hike with you on one of her trips here. At any rate, she and her current boyfriend, Madcap Mike, are planning a trip to Canada this coming September. They will be flying into Calgary on the 12th and then driving to Banff to stay for five or six nights. We plan to meet them in Kamloops on or around the 18th and were wondering if you'll be at your cabin then. We plan to take them to the Okanagan for a couple of days but if it works we thought it might be fun to invite ourselves to the lake! Not a big deal if it doesn't work but let us know and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrizzio and Coriandre,  What's this news about selling and moving? I read this over and over to be sure I didn't miss something. This comes as a bit of a
shock, but it could be a great move and very exciting all at the same time. I must say that the proximity to all the wineries and the very nice summers are very alluring. We would almost be neighbours in the big Okanagan sense. Please keep us posted on your progress as we are dying to know where and when all of this will take place.

As for September 18th, all looks fine right now, but we can't say absolutely, in case something comes up at work. We would, of course, love to have a visit with all of you up there so hopefully it will all work out.

Our big news is that Alex has just accepted a Co-op job in Germany from May to December. Leah got a job at the UVic and begins on  Monday and they are also moving this weekend to Victoria. Niki is loving her job at Manual Life and continues to work hard on her case load. Rick and I just placed 1st at the Duplicate Bridge Club last Monday playing North-South and did very well overall. You trained us well, but we still have a lot to learn, convention-wise.
Colin says we good bridge moxie! All we know is that we love playing bridge.
Cheers for now, Ruth

Hi Duplicate Bridge Club Hot Shots! Congratulations to you both! Well done!!! Onward! Bravo!!!

Great news about Alex! Guess you'll be planning a trip to Europe to have him as local expert! Please pass along our congratulations to him, as well as to Leah on UVic appointment. Do you think Niki can help with the investments I have with ManuLife? Really need some inside help with current economic situation. Going to be an expensive trip to California with current exchange rate! We will be heading south towards the end of next week
/early February, to see Ayn and Los Horridos in LA and spend a week with close friends, [Lynne/Peter, from Naramata], in Palm Desert for a week. Might try to visit a number of other friends in Mesa and Yuma, time/finances permitting.

Great that September might well work out. Thanks for being so flexible but don't fret, overly, if visit is not possible. Let's just see what things look like closer to the time. Perhaps we'll be living in Sorrento by then!
Chat soon. Cheers, Patrizzio.

Bit of a mixed day with cloudy skies interspersed with heavy mist/drizzle. Nevertheless, I set out at just after 2:30 pm to do a bit of a shorter repeat of yesterday's ride. Most of the time it was most pleasant, with respect to the temperature, wind and absence of dog walkers and tourists on bikes! Gather that the threat of rain had dissuaded folks from using the Seawall. At any rate, had another most enjoyable ride even though it was a bit "dampish" at the beginning and towards the latter part of the outing. Dried off nicely in between so who could ask for more? Hi Pat, Well here I am back in Canada - seems such a short time since I was last here! I arrived last Saturday and , because in a weak moment I promised Mya that I would be home for her 10th birthday party, I will be leaving on the 10th - 11th February; a really abbreviated trip this year.

Tina had a Facebook contact with Sarge where he said he may come up here for a few days - I'm not sure whether he was serious or not - but with me being here for such a shortish time it may not work out anyway! Hope all are well - please pass on my regards to all. Ooroo for now Trevor

Hi Trev! Trust all goes well with you. Was wondering when we might here from you. Funnily enough, Flamin' and Sarge were just here, after curling. Unfortunately they lost! At any rate, I'll let Sarge talk to you directly about his plans for skiing. Sad to say that it looks like we won't cross paths this trip as we are off to California towards the end of this month/early February, to see Ayn and Los Horridos in LA and spend a week with close friends in Palm Desert. Nevertheless, Clara and Dusty will be here and I know they would love to see you. You are more than welcome to stay at our place if your return schedule allows time in Vancouver. How is the snow? Conflicting reports between Dusty and Sarge!

Haven't had a chance to fill you in on our latest gambit. We are thinking quite seriously of moving to the Okanagan! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pat, A ride Tuesday would be good, weather permitting. It sounds like you might have to wait a while until the right property shows up in Naramata. At least you have friends there to keep you informed of the situation. It does sound like a very good area. My brother-in-law in Prince George is still riding in the snow on one of those 'fat' bikes with the wide tires. It looks like fun. Ray

Hi Raymond! Gil, our real estate agent, in Penticton, is still sending us listings so hunt is still on. Flamin' and Sarge are looking at purchasing recreational property in Osoyoos and want us to drive up with them in March so that is what we will probably do, taking a look at places there and in Oliver, for ourselves, just to get a better sense of what is available. We are also looking at other possible locations in Vancouver but I'm not at all that keen. Push is coming mostly from Chloƫ, as you can imagine!

Anyway, let me know what you think about riding this coming week. Vittorio may well join us so need to know your thoughts in next few days to determine if schedules mesh. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Pat, it looks like Tuesday might be a rain day, but if it isn't I wouldn't mind going out in the morning. Alternatively, Monday seems to be a clear day, and if we were to go then, I am free between 830a-1130a. I'm open to any route as long as it is on the road, my bike wouldn't hold up well on gravel or anything not paved cement Take care, VL

Hi Vittorio! I took another look at forecast and Tuesday seems fine, as well as Monday. I plan to go out both days so let me know when you'd like to ride and where we should connect. If you will be at UBC I'm happy to ride out there and we can select a time/rendezvous point. Don't worry about road surface as I'm not interested in gravel either! Anyway, let me know what you think and we'll plan accordingly. Robo Man may well join us so need to know your thoughts so we can dovetail with him. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello P, I wouldn't mind going both days, but since Monday looks like it may actually be a dry day I say let's go for that. We could meet at UBC at 830a? I am free to ride until 1130a. Does that work? Take care, VL
Wayne Sutherland Started back to work yesterday after almost five months since my Heart attack. Just two days a week to start for the next month and then we will see where we go from there.

Nadienka Wyss shared Damen 1 VC Smash's event.
  • Patrick James Dunn Glad to see you are back on the court!
  • Nadienka Wyss Not anymore though.. Shoulder problems are keeping me from competing
  • Patrick James Dunn Sorry to hear about that. You need to take up cycling now then you can ride with your Cruel Host Father!
