The [Nobel] prize is such an extraordinary honor. It might seem unfair, however, to reward a person for having so much pleasure over the years, asking the maize plant to solve specific problems and then watching its responses. -Barbara McClintock, scientist, Nobel laureate (16 Jun 1902-1992)
I was up at just before 6:00 am to make a pot of java and then use some of Jim's bread to make a few sandwiches for the road. He and Cora Lee wandered out around 7:00 am and once I'd loaded car I had a quick shower while they had breakfast. Thanking Zircon for the whirlwind visit we waved goodbye, (We might stay overnight, on way back, depending when we leave Falcon. Will have to be Sunday, June 28th, if at all, as he is off to Prince Albert, to visit family, on the 29th.), making for Kenton. Really quite an easy drive, after Crowsnest, so we were in Virden by 4:30 pm, even after losing an hour.
Had a most enjoyable evening with Famiglia Gray. By chance, even saw Alexander, oldest child, as he drove in from Shoal Lake, to leave his dog, Oliver, with his parents. He is a project manager for Russell Redi-Mix Concrete, in nearbye Russell, Manitoba, and had a job in Saskatchewan which would take him away for a few days. Lovely dinner of pork chops bbq'd on the new deck Dallas built off the back of the house. Wasn't an overly late night as all of the Grays were off to work, early next morning: Kimberley, youngest, to Brandon, for her engineering work study/co-op job in Brandon; Kaitlyn to Shoal Lake for her nursing practicum; Judy to Brandon for her new job in a medical lab there and Dallas to Virden, his fire-extinguisher business taking him there for the day.
