Rosie-the-Riveter/Coat Hanger Durston 70th Wedding Anniversary Blues: Friday, June 19th!

To a father growing old, nothing is dearer than a daughter. -Euripides, playwright (c. 480-406 BCE)

Hi Sarge! How was the race? As exciting as one in Melbourne. Burns Street is going well even if we still have scads of unpacking to do.

[Chloe Alexis Dunn Mountains outside my window this morning, pretty great way to wake up!]

Patti, along with Rachel, drove Durston's into Winnipeg this morning. They arrived around 10:00 am and then Cora Lee and Dusty went to Costco for groceries needed for tomorrow's party back at Falcon. Spumoni took Clarisse to have her hair done around the corner from house. I've even had my hair cut there, by Wendy, as that is where Greg goes. Everyone was back around noon and we just finished having a marvellous lunch of take-out from Bento Sushi from Real Canadian Superstore. The Sisterhood, (including Carly and Rachel), just left for manicures/pedicures. Dusty is here with me and he will help Greg with some wiring when Greg is back from making a number of calls.

I had intended to go for a reasonably long ride but it has been raining quite heavily for last hour or so. Supposed to clear up around 3:00 pm, if forecast can be believed so hope to get in a bit of a ride before I need to get ready for 70th Wedding Anniversary dinner party at 6:00 pm. It will be held at a family owned, (Bekios), Greek spot, Maxime’s Restaurant and Lounge, but a block or so from house, at the top of St Michael Road, just across St Mary's Road, so most of us will walk there.

Many of the gang will drive out to Falcon after the dinner but not sure, at this point, if Cora Lee and I will wait until next day to return to the lake or not. We will be coming back into the city, probably next Thursday, as I'm attending a 50th high-school, Daniel McIntyre, home room class reunion next day at an iconic Winnipeg restaurant, Rae & Jerry's Steak House. Interestingly, place is only a few blocks from where we first lived in Winnipeg, in 1959. At the time, my Dad had a small corner store in neighbourhood so I delivered groceries, first on my bike, (Funnily enough, given our recent move to Penticton, with a cardboard BC McIntosh apple box in the carrier), on all the streets thereabouts. Really looking forward to seeing many of my former classmates.

Had tried to send this message on Wednesday but the connectivity with Giorgio's satellite dish simply wouldn't allow me to do so before we left yesterday. Then with all the comings and goings described above, simply didn't seem to have a moment to sit down and answer mail. Trust all goes well with you and rest of the gang at Harbour Terrace. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Things are good here. A few fights with the neighbour in relation to scaffolding on her deck. Will fill you in when we meet again. Say hi to Dusty and Clare.
