Penultimate Peach Orchard Punisher Blues: Friday, July 10th!

Wise sayings often fall on barren ground; but a kind word is never thrown away. -Arthur Helps, writer (10 Jul 1813-1875)

Dobry rano comrade Patrick, Can you please send me your mailing address. Piotr

Dobroye utro tovarishch Petr! I am a tad reluctant to send along our address as I'm a'feared that I will soon be served with a summons to remove all remaining possessions from your garage! Hope to do that in a little more than a week. We will be  driving to Vancouver on the 14th, as Lady Mary is jet-setting off, on the 16th, to The Big Apple, for ten days with Robyn, as I think you know. Paul and Joan Whitney have offered to put us up on the nights of the 14th/15th. After Mme Coriandre leaves for NY I will move to the Keatings for the weekend as I'm attending the Folk Fest.

Expect to drive back on Monday so I'll probably give you a shout, once home, to arrange "muleage". We have friends, Denise and Bill Gross, from Vancouver, who will be staying at the cottage, at Deep Roots, for that week, so I'm hoping to dovetail pickup with a visit there.

Catherine and Matt arrive from Vancouver around noon today, for weekend. Four of us are booked in to Black Widow for their tasting at 10:00 am, of all times, on Saturday so it will be an early Farmer's Market! Clan Sutherland is supposed to drive up for Market as well. Not sure of their plans other than that. If you Naramatians will be home on Saturday, around noon,  I thought we might pop by to say a quick hello after we've tasted at Black Widow. Might even haul a few boxes away! Anyway, look forward to seeing you both, one way or another.  Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Zoe et al! Thanks for thinking of sponsoring me and the encouragement. Much appreciated! Life is grand, here in the Okanagan, in spite of still settling in/un-packing. Nevertheless, very, very happy about the move. Plenty of visitors so far. Catherine and Matt arrived from Vancouver today, at noon, for the weekend. About an hour or so ago we returned from an afternoon of wine-tasting out of Okanagan Falls. Delicious lunch and tasting, first, at Liquidity, followed by tastings at Noble Ridge and then Synchromesh.

M/C had a short nap, once home, and, refreshed, left for a stroll to the lake shore. When they are back we'll start dinner preparations: ribs on the bbq, fresh corn-on-the-cob and
fresh green beans, done in the frying pan, served with the remarkable pesto sauce, (made from our friend's, Peter's, fabulous fresh basil), by his wife, Lynne, given us this past Sunday when they came for dinner. They live in Naramata and the six of us will go to The Dream Cafe, about a ten minute walk from our place, to have dinner and then hear Jim Byrnes! Simply wonderful line-up of incredible musicians/bands that play at this venue.

Busy day tomorrow as the
four of us are booked in to Black Widow for their 10 year anniversary tasting at 10:00 am, of all times, so it will be an early Farmer's Market! Clan Sutherland, (They stayed overnight on Wednesday.), is supposed to drive up, from Osoyoos, where they are ensconced for weekend, for Market as well, so we may well see them again, before weekend is over. Sunday is the GranFondo so most of the day will be taken up with that, at least for me. Not sure of our social plans other than recuperation after that! Hope to see your Dad when in Vancouver next week! Have you heard from him? Seen him? Must away as dinner preparation calls. Fondestos to you and Matt. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Flamin', Sarge and Melanie, friend from Halifax; Matt and Catherine at Liquidity; view of Vaseux Lake from Noble Ridge; Synchromesh, tiny winery, 2,000 cases; Mike, chap behind tasting counter at Synchromesh, with his wife, Marguerite, and their son William. They came to collect him just before closing time. Truly interesting, fascinating,
highly, highly articulate, knowledgeable individual. He will have his first book of poetry published, by Harbour Publishing, located in Pender Harbour, on the Sunshine Coast, in a few months, I believe.

Hi Mike! (Alan, please pass this along to Mike. We are the people who drove up just as you were leaving.) Thanks for the wonderful tasting this afternoon. Really enjoyed chatting with you about so many interesting topics. Trust we'll so you again, in the not too, too distant future. Hope all goes exceedingly well with the publication of your book of poetry and the coming birth! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Patrizzio! Hope all goes well, thanks for the e-cards you send. If you have a hankering to stay at my place any time soon - better move fast. I have bought a new place, not too far away, and will be selling here in September. New digs will eventually offer stunning guest accommo, but that won't be until next year.

As it is, I expect with your recent move, you are staying put for a while. Best of the summer to you and the always-fabulous Corinne! Deborah

Hi Deborah! Thanks very much for extending an invitation to stay. Much appreciated! Congratulations, indeed, on your new place. Sounds wonderful. However, as you say, we won't be straying far from our new home for a bit, at least until October 27th when we are off to India for six weeks! Fondestos to you from Cora Lee, relaxing on the patio with a glass of Stag's Hollow Sauvignon Blanc, another wonderful winery in OK Falls! Cheers, Patrizzio!
