Greetings BigMac et al! Sarge has been in Vegas, since Thursday,
sharpening his card skills, but is back today, so he and I are on for
Monday's game. Cheers, Patrizzio!
The 1932 Soviet poster dedicated to March 8 holiday. The text reads: "8th of March is the day of rebellion of the working women against kitchen slavery" and "Down with the oppression and narrow-mindedness of household work!". Originally in the USSR the holiday had a clear political character, emphasizing the role of the Soviet state in the liberation of women from their second-class-citizen status.
Great ride on a fab day to dipsy doodle my way around Olympic Village, Kits Point and then UBC campus, after Saturday's marvellous 52 km ride on Naramata Road before I rendezvoused with Mme Coriandre at Poplar Grove for a terrific tasting, followed by one at Upper Bench. Riding and wine and love, what more can a poor boy desire! Stats for ride:

Meeting Woman had an AGM for Heartwood so she was not home when I finished my ride. I had a luxurious shower and then set about preparing dinner for later, when she returned. Didn't hear from Gil until 7:45 pm. Owners had countered with $10,000 below asking price so we agreed to come up $2,000, hoping to obtain it for $15,000 below asking. So that is where things stood.
Since Gil said he goes to bed quite early, [Apparently he is a very early riser.], I said we wouldn't call back if Meeting Woman wasn't home from AGM at Heartwood y 8:30 pm. She wasn't and when she did arrive she was drained, she immediately opening a 2012 Upper Bench Pinot Blanc, 13.5%, to settle her church-rattled nerves. Once she'd glugged, she sent Gil an email with our counter-offer and then set about frying up some fish filets and we had them with a baked yam, green peas and a tomatoe/Feta salad, while we watched Elementary and the first episode of a new, to us, detective series, The Killing:
Based partly on a popular Danish TV series, "The Killing" is a moody, character-driven detective procedural that weaves a murder mystery through a full season or more. The stories unfold through the eyes of Sarah Linden, a detective with the Seattle Police Department and who, at first, must mentor Detective Stephen Holder, a former narcotics cop. While their backgrounds produce investigative styles that clash -- she's by-the-book, he's freewheeling -- they manage to pull together for the case.
Quite liked the characters and it was interesting to see Seattle as the setting. I wanted to watch next episode but Mme Coriandre was ready for bed and a book so after brushing and flossing we repaired to bedroom around midnight, pleased that it looked like we would be purchasing Burns Street property!
