Laetare of Lent Blues: Sunday, March 15th!

It is well to remember that the entire universe, with one trifling exception, is composed of others. -John Andrew Holmes

Language is fossil poetry. -Ralph Waldo Emerson, writer and philosopher (1803-1882)

Up just before 7:00 am as the nap I'd taken earlier Saturday evening had held me in good stead!

Hi Sarge! Trust your property hunting weekend went well. When are you back? Are you on for bridge on Monday? Will be at Byron's place so we can walk over. Let me know and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio. PS: Stefano and Kathleen will be here, mid-June or thereabouts. Ya I am in for tomorrow night. Hi Byron! Sarge is pleased to join us on Monday. 6:00 pm? Cheers, Patrizzio! OK all is good Cheers Byron I can make it.

Hi O Susannah and Champagne Charlie! Trust you are both well. Enjoyed many of the sites mentioned in your last newsletter. Fondestos from Mme Coriandre! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Inter-State Travellers! Trust trip home is going well. I expect you will be experiencing change of climate shock! Flamin' and Sarge are in your neck-of-the-woods, sort of, looking at property in West Kelowna, of all places, this weekend.

Had a message from Stefano and he and Kathleen will be in Vancouver, and environs in mid-June, or thereabouts. Not sure of exact dates yet but they hope to visit The Hinterland so should be fun if we can all manage to get together. Let us know what your June looks like and we'll plan accordingly. Travel safely. Fondestos from Mme Coriandre to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pat, You have had a very interesting time of late. It must have been particularly interesting looking at the various properties and then wondering if you'd made the right decision. Penticton will serve both your needs, I'm sure. When we bought this house in '78, I don't think I worried in the least but I certainly would consider all the factors now in depth. Not sure of our specific plans this summer. I know we are going to Kimberley to stay with Sylvia's brother and we might spend a few days in your new area and if so will try and get a ride in. Maybe from Myra Canyon to Penticton or a short one - Penticton to Naramata. Haven't ridden any distance for quite some time now so definitely not 'bike fit'.

Watched the England v Scotland rugby match at Mike Carter's yesterday with 2 of his golfing pals. Last game next week against France. Ray

Hi Sylvia and Raymond! Trust you are both well. Thanks for congratulations on our new home! As you might expect, we are quite chuffed with house, even though no pool! To tell the truth, we are very, very excited about the move!

Sorry that I have not been in touch sooner. Interestingly enough, I heard from former colleague, Jo-Anne Naslund, of UBC's Education Library, about Peter's award. She knows Gary Pennington as well and she mentioned that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Fortunately, not life threatening. Apparently he is off to Ireland with sons Scott and Nick in April, I believe.

Do hope you will be able to visit over the course of the coming summer as we'd be more than delighted. We can ride, Raymond, while The Sisterhood shop and drink wine! As well,
hope we can arrange a ride together, in the not too, too distant future. Went out today and was undone by the rain! Whether forecast was wrong or I misread it, I was drenched, pretty much to the bone, by the time I was back home and covered with grit as no fenders on my Trek! Nothing special about ride as I just dipsy-doodled around Olympic Village, Science World and then Kits Point, to Brock House and back. Initially, thought I'd head out to UBC but when drizzle became rain I was pretty chilly and couldn't face lashing rain and pretty strong head wind on way to Foreshore Hill! Stats for ride:

Hello Surfistas de Viento! Trust you are both well. Hope you have not run out of Tequila yet! Sorry that I have not been in touch recently. Do hope you will be able to visit over the course of the coming summer as we'd be more than delighted. We can ride, Giggster, while The Sisterhood shop and drink wine! At any rate, been a busy past week. Must away as we are to play a few hands of bridge before dinner. (Wonderful roast beef and potatoes and gravy, courtesy of Rosita, along with Swiss Chard in a delish cream sauce by Mme Coriandre, mixed green saladin by Il Conduttore with plenty of wash-it-down hootch! Cora Lee and Dusty trounced us so was quite pleased when blood-letting was over. Needed a few episodes of The Killing to calm me down before hitting the hay.), and Fondestos from Mme Coriandre to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio

Young Pat, Again I will start with an apology for being so late in writing. Thanks so much for the always entertaining email from your trip south. It brought back fond memories of the many trips I used to take to San Francisco back in the 70s and early 80s. Sausalito was one of my favorite spots. It used to have a very unusual community of houseboats, as well as being a warm inviting town.
When I was om my cruise in October, I stayed in a Days Inn on PCH in Long Beach.. but not a very nice part of it. I had very bad connections for air so I stayed 4 nights there.

Wow!! You went from we might be moving to Penticton to We are history in a very short time. Good luck my friend... That will be an adventure I am sure. Please let me know how it goes.

We had another big storm today. It has been the worst winter recorded. We had a few nice days last week when the snow receded a little, but there is just so much. I had a guy who was supposed to shovel me out, but once the snow started, I never saw him again. Because I live on a bank overlooking the river and bay, a lot of the snow just gets blown across the street to my neighbour. I still had to shovel a lot. I didn't shovel one day about 2 weeks ago and tried just to follow the postman's foot steps and I fell... twice. I am still sore. I saw the doctor last week on another matter and told her of my tumbles and she checked me out and turns out I will make it through.

Dye to liver problems I am now a teetotaler. I have siroccos caused by diabetes and being overweight. The liver can't metabolise alcohol when there is siroccos so the specialist said I should never have a drink again. I was told that before my cruise and still had a few beers each day on the ship, but after a longer more serious talk , I am heeding her advice and haven't had any since. Since my Buddy and neighbour doesn't drink at all, it really isn't a hardship even though there are times I would really enjoy a cold one.

I hate to think how many errors there are in this. I will do a scan and correct the worst ones. Again, good luck moving, Hi to Corrine and Chloe and all the best to you... Bill

Hi Wild Bill! Sorry to learn of your liver problems but pleased to know that you are heeding medical advice and are now a teetotaler, an inspiration to us all!
Fondestos from Chloë and Cora Lee Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Bill and I attended a farewell party for David, long-term employee, at Marquis Wines, on Davie, yesterday. Shot taken when Kevin/Bev Witter were in Vancouver in 2012; Chloë and I, a selfie!
