Christmas Baking Blues: Tuesday, December 16th!

To delight in war is a merit in the soldier, a dangerous quality in the captain, and a positive crime in the statesman. -George Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952)

Headed for bed at 12:45 am to read. Hi Galiano Gadfly! Forgot to ask Jane about the cycling her friend did. Photos look fascinating. Will have to arrange a get together, perhaps with Mark and Susan, to chat about their experiences, in 2015.

Up at 6:50 am to enjoy the Christmas lights on the building across the way, and those on our patio. One set has not been put on the timer as we need to buy an adapter for its single socket. One of things on my list of errands I plan to run today. Weather forecast is better than I had expected with little, if any rain, after about 9:00 am. Had planned a session on elliptical at FCCC but now feel I may well be able to go for another ride. Will see. Cheers, Il Conduttore! Pic: David and Pat, at a nature preserve in Honduras. From their e-Christmas card.

Buenos dias Pat and Corinne, Thanks for the beautiful photos and warm message. Pat, so glad you are taking photos at every event. We never get those moments back and they are wonderful for the memory bank. I am going to try and do the same from now on. I am sorry I won't be here for your open house, but look forward to raising a glass to the year ahead with you upon my return. Enjoy!! All the best, Jane

Hi Jane! Sent a message to the Galiano Gadfly earlier this morning and mentioned that I had forgotten to ask you about your cycling friend. Hope to organize something with Mark and Susan, (Not sure if Giorgio has mentioned them to you but they were in Vietnam a year or so ago and Mark did some riding as well.), to chat about their experiences and those of your friend, in 2015, whenever we can juggle everyone's schedules!

Glad you enjoyed the snaps. We'll miss you at the Open House but will certainly raise a few glasses to your health! Again, stay well, travel safely and enjoy the Eastern Townships. Cheers, Patrizzio!

I really hope to get out for rides a few times in 2015 so we'll see you

Hi Fellow Rich Canadians! As Big Al and Whirlygig know, (So does Robo Man unless Sylvia hasn't passed along most recent reminder/invitation and he has already forgotten the fact that I invited them weeks ago!), we are having an Open House on December 23rd, from 2:00 pm-10:00 pm so we trust you three will overlap and can then wish each other Happy Christmas in person! Trust we will see everyone a week today! Cheers, Patrizzio, Solar Road Agent for Canada!

Like an elephant, Pat. Sylvia is keen, so we'll be there at 2:01 till 9:59. Ray Hi Lads! Next thing you know, Big Al will be coming for rides! Guess if you'll be here for the duration, Raymondo, I'll have to ask Rosita to make an extra batch of chicken wings and baked bean with molasses to keep you fueled! Cheers, Wine for Elephants Patrizzio!

Hi Folks! This is the non-Jew in the household answering for Susan. She really appreciates the thoughts and wishes you all the best this holiday season.
Charlie

From one non-Jew to another! I posted same card on O Susannah's Facebook Wall but thought I'd send it along to you, Carlos, just in case, as I don't have her email address. Cora Lee, with sticky fingers from making snowballs, (First stage of rolling peanut butter mixed with Rice Krispies into balls, ready to be dipped in chocolate and rolled in icing sugar, tonight with Chloë.), sends along her sweet hellos! Cheers already! Patrizzio!

Have Cora Lee rub your back now with those fingers. (Or anywhere else) Would make a perfect end to the a.m. CC Hi again, HM! Your wish is my command! I'm more than happy, delighted, even, to do your bidding. Thanks. Finally I'm going to listen to you. Wish you'd listen to me when bidding! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to our Favourite

Hello Squamish! Thanks for your Christmas card and all the wonderful pictures! Much appreciated. Sorry I missed your quick visit but I'm sure Cora Lee mentioned that I went for a grand ride out to UBC. Thanks again for the Christmas wishes and would like to reciprocate by sending along our wishes to you and all your extended family both for a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year! Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Peggster and Mr Fixit and Family! Trust everyone is well. Thanks for the lovely Christmas card. Will all your family be together over the holidays?  Cheers, Patrizzio!
Dear Owners, Please find attached BFI brochure for our information regarding your organic pick up that starts on January 1, 2015. Regards, Vivian Leung Administrative Assistant, Colyvan Pacific Real Estate Management Services Ltd.

Spent most of the morning sending out e-Christmas cards and almost an hour shredding Harbour Terrace documents that are no longer needed. Cora Lee is the Treasurer of the Strata Council and she inherited a large box of mostly outdated, useless papers so this was the best way to dispose of them. After this task was completed, (Took five full shredder boxes to the recycling bins before all the papers were gone!), I suited up and rode downtown to pick up Indian Summer at VPL. I'd placed a hold on it and it was ready a day or so ago.

After I collected the hold I made my way back to the Seawall and went to Best Buy as I wanted to do a bit of Christmas shopping, stocking stuffers, in particular. Then on to Canadian Tire for more of the same as well as a power bar for the lights on the patio. By this time it had started to drizzle but since I didn't have far to go I was home before my jacket had a chance to get soaked. Once back I wrote two Christmas letters to friends who don't use e-mail and then walked over to the postal outlet on GI to mail them. Then to Edibles to do a bit more shopping for small gifts. Pleased with what I was able to purchase I returned to the Islay Inn to do a few household chores. Stats for errandos: 15.52 km, MAX 37.2 km/hr. Vacuuming done and final shredding accomplished I zapped a mug of java, intending to have a quick shower before making a salad for dinner. Before I'd taken a sip, Chloë arrived. Once Coriandre was back from her meeting she was going to help her Mom with the snowball production.

While I showered she went next door and scored a care package of sauce from Clarisse and then returned to our place to prepare her pasta dinner. Cora Lee actually made it home before 6:00 pm, just as I was putting the finishing touches to the saladin so she and Chloë tucked into their own particular fare. Coriandre was having overlefts, the delish curry chicken with Jasmine rice she's made on Sunday. I followed suit shortly and we watched White Christmas together, one of our family favourites. The Sisterhood returned to the kitchen, before Bing and Danny reached Vermont, to melt chocolate and then roll the peanut butter balls coated with same in coconut.

First round of snowballs stored in a large tin and put in the freezer, Chloë happened upon Finding Forrester. While she'd seen it before, neither of us knew it. Quite enjoyed seeing Sean Connery and found the examination of writing and what it means to be a writer most interesting, coming relatively shortly after this year's VWF.  Anna Paquin, originally from Winnipeg, plays Claire, Jamal's romantic interest at Mailor-Callow, a prestigious private school "which offered Jamal a full academic scholarship, partly for his skill on the basketball court and partly for his test scores."

Carol Riera Hi Paprika! I am going to kenya in May with students. As soon as I find a job we are coming. Know anyone who would like to hire someone with a master's in linguistics and lots of knowledge about international students' integration? If I can find a good paying job we'll be there with bells on! xoxo

Hi Chooch! We'll hire you at The Islay Inn to run the distance education education program for our boarders. You can work, from home, remotely, across the Salish Sea on VI, and we can write off ferry expenses when we come to visit, drink your expensive wine and give you your exhorbitant pay cheque! Carol Riera What a great idea! Patrick James Dunn
Won't your thesis be a blockbuster, best-seller? Royalties alone should bring in millions! No need to work just spend your day signing books, laughing all the way to the bank!
Hi Snowball Maker! Thanks for sending along snap of boat. Also saw the Van Dusen snaps. Looked like fun! Love and Cheers, Dad!
